Renault expands factory-built camper van range with Trafic Escapade

A 1928 Eccles Jacobean vintage motorhome, one of the world's oldest surviving campers, is being auctioned by RM Sotheby's in France. This wooden travel trailer, designed in Tudor architectural style, sleeps two and features a kitchen and a luxurious wooden interior. It was accidentally discovered in 1964 being used as a chicken coop, and its restoration took 23 years.

France is considering a bill to abolish all low-emission zones (ZFE) and the mandatory Crit'Air stickers. This would simplify travel for motorhome owners, especially those with older diesel models. The final decision is expected after parliamentary votes on January 27 and 29, 2026.

A new lightweight travel trailer for two was presented at the CMT 2026 show. Its base price is €14,600, with a curb weight of 839 kg. A special edition with option packages is available until spring for €17,770, offering a price advantage of around €2,700.

France remains a popular destination for motorhome and caravan holidays due to its developed infrastructure. The country has approximately 11,000 campsites and thousands of serviced parking areas, with overnight prices on municipal sites starting around 15 euros.
