Renault Trafic Escapade debuts as a camper van with factory kitchen

A 1928 Eccles Jacobean vintage motorhome, one of the world's oldest surviving campers, is being auctioned by RM Sotheby's in France. This wooden travel trailer, designed in Tudor architectural style, sleeps two and features a kitchen and a luxurious wooden interior. It was accidentally discovered in 1964 being used as a chicken coop, and its restoration took 23 years.

France is considering a bill to abolish all low-emission zones (ZFE) and the mandatory Crit'Air stickers. This would simplify travel for motorhome owners, especially those with older diesel models. The final decision is expected after parliamentary votes on January 27 and 29, 2026.

French manufacturer Sterckeman has launched the lightweight Easy 325DD caravan, designed to be towed by electric and hybrid vehicles. The model weighs 839 kg, is 2.1 m wide, and features an induction hob instead of a gas system. The starting price is 14,600 euros.

The French company Challenger has launched the compact V114S motorhome for 2026. It is 5.41 meters long, accommodates three people, and has a starting price of 51,990 euros. The model comes with a 7-year watertightness warranty.

A new lightweight travel trailer for two was presented at the CMT 2026 show. Its base price is €14,600, with a curb weight of 839 kg. A special edition with option packages is available until spring for €17,770, offering a price advantage of around €2,700.

France remains a popular destination for motorhome and caravan holidays due to its developed infrastructure. The country has approximately 11,000 campsites and thousands of serviced parking areas, with overnight prices on municipal sites starting around 15 euros. The landscape and climatic diversity allows for combining different types of vacations in a single trip.
