Porto Potenza Seeks New Operator for Motorhome Area

Authorities and associations in Calabria discussed the development of motorhome tourism. At a meeting in the town of Rose, a project for a coordinated regional network of motorhome service areas along the coast and inland was presented. The aim is to improve infrastructure, support local economies, and reduce tourist seasonality. A structured project is planned to be presented at the International Motorhome Show in Parma in September 2026.

The Municipality of Oristano has approved new tourist tax rates for 2026. Starting March 1, the fee for camper van parking areas and open-air accommodation will increase from €0.50 to €1.00 per person per night. Rate hikes also apply to hotels and other tourist lodgings.

A motorhome and the cat inside have been found after being stolen in the Pigneto district. The vehicle was located in the Villa Gordiani area thanks to citizen reports on social media. The owner, artist Lorenzo Marte, stated the animal is unharmed, but the motorhome sustained damage.

The municipality of Vicoforte has secured state funding to complete a long-planned motorhome parking area. The project, which began years ago, will provide 19 parking stalls with automated services. The site is located near the town's sports facilities.

The Italian company Teleco has won a European Innovation Award for the second consecutive year. The award went to the Ultra Comfort 8000 Steril Air Pro system, which combines cooling, heating, and air purification, removing up to 99.9% of viruses and bacteria. The unit is mounted behind the bumper, freeing the roof for solar panels, but requires a 230V power connection.

The municipality of Asiago has approved the executive project for a new motorhome service area. The total cost for essential works is 432 thousand euros, with 238 thousand coming from state tourism funds. The 8.5-thousand-square-meter site will feature a service building with showers and laundry, charging stations, and utilities for motorhomes. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring.
