One of the lightest camper designs originated in East Germany

The Camping-Oase Süplingen campsite reopens for the season on March 20. During the winter, a new bar area was added and comfort facilities were upgraded, with some dates already fully booked.

Thule has introduced the new Widesky folding roof tent. It deploys in 30 seconds, weighs 68 kg, and features a mattress that converts into a lounge seat. The tent will be available from April starting at 3,599 euros.

Stellantis is recalling Fiat Ducato, Citroën Jumper, Peugeot Boxer, and Opel Movano vans manufactured between November 2024 and July 2025. The recall is due to a potential fault in the fuel return line that could cause a leak and fire. Approximately 24,000 vehicles are affected, including many motorhomes and camper vans built on this platform.

The city council of Wittmund has approved a development plan for the Friesensee holiday park in Isums. The plans include building halls for winter motorhome storage, creating larger pitches, and adding more photovoltaic installations. Traffic flow will be reconfigured, with access restrictions from May to September to protect local bat species.

German startup Freescape has developed a camper van based on the Ford Tourneo Custom featuring a unique inflatable roof tent. The system creates 2.5 meters of interior headroom, deploys in 6-8 minutes, and includes a 1.4x2 meter sleeping area. Production is set to start mid-year, with the base manual 136 hp model priced from €87,900.

The number of motorhomes in Hamburg has doubled in ten years, reaching nearly 20,000. Their long-term street parking, particularly in the Eimsbüttel and Altona districts, is causing resident complaints and incidents of vandalism. Authorities plan to conduct an independent survey of the situation.
