Used motorhomes under €45,000 dominate the pre-owned market

The city of Fürth has identified an area for a motorhome parking site. Previously, the tourist information office had to redirect visiting campers to other locations.

Insolvency proceedings have been initiated against Wohnwagen Bruns GmbH in Cloppenburg. The business continues to operate, with five employees' salaries secured for three months by the Federal Employment Agency. The provisional insolvency administrator aims to sell the company, which has been trading for over 50 years.

Police stopped a motorhome with British license plates in Gmund on February 25. The 39-year-old driver from Wales admitted to consuming cannabis. A blood test was taken, and he faces a fine and a one-month driving ban.

A ranking of eight small motorhomes up to six meters in length, designed for one or two people, has been presented. The list includes various types, from camper vans to semi-integrated motorhomes. All models are characterized by compact dimensions and unconventional layouts.

The German Federal Fiscal Court (BFH) has refined its case law regarding items of daily use. In a ruling dated January 27, 2026, the court stated that even high-priced motorhomes can fall under this category, exempting gains from their sale from taxation as a private disposal transaction within one year. This applies when the asset is acquired primarily for personal use, even if it is partially rented out.

The increase in motorhomes is creating parking difficulties for residents in Hamburg. Nearly 20,000 motorhomes are now registered in the city, double the number from a decade ago. This has resulted in resident complaints and incidents of vandalism, including slashed tires.
